AMD has introduced the Ryzen 5 7400F, which may be the most budget-friendly AM5 CPU based on the Raphael architecture.

This new release follows the Ryzen 5 7500F and is a hexacore version of the Ryzen 5 7600, offering slightly slower clock speeds.

The Ryzen 5 7400F is expected to be priced lower than the Ryzen 5 7500F, which currently retails for $160 at Newegg.

Key Specs of Ryzen 5 7400F

The Ryzen 5 7400F comes with six cores and twelve threads based on AMD's Zen 4 architecture. It retains the 6MB + 32MB cache layout, typical of Raphael silicon. The processor has a base clock of 3.7 GHz, matching the 7500F, but it features a boost clock of 4.7 GHz, which is 300 MHz lower than the Ryzen 5 7600. With Precision Boost Overdrive 2 (PBO 2), users may achieve 5 GHz, though manual tuning will be required.

Other Features

  • TDP: 65W

  • No integrated RDNA GPU, requiring a discrete graphics card for display.

  • PCIe lanes: 28 total, with 24 usable.

  • Cooler: The boxed version comes with the AMD Wraith Stealth cooler, while the tray variant requires a separate cooler purchase.

Pricing and Availability

At the time of writing, the Ryzen 5 7400F is not yet listed at major retailers, but it's expected to be priced around $150. It offers an affordable entry point for users looking to upgrade to the AM5 platform.

For those seeking high-end options, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, currently considered the world’s fastest gaming CPU, is available at MSRP if bundled with other items on Newegg.
